Terms of Use

The agreement between you and Sketchwise for using the app and this website, including the rules for sharing drawings in Community.

The short version

  • You must be 16 or older to use Sketchwise.
  • Lessons and scores come from AI and can be wrong. Treat them as guidance, not a verdict.
  • Your drawings stay yours. You let us process them to run the app, and to show the ones you choose to share.
  • Sharing has rules. Post only your own drawings, be kind, keep it safe for young artists, and leave out personal details, ads and spam. Posting to Community? Read the community rules.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in your App Store or Google Play settings.

Using Sketchwise

By using the Sketchwise app or sketchwise.app you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use them. You must be at least 16 years old.

How we handle your data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

Lessons and AI feedback

Sketchwise turns a photo into a step-by-step drawing lesson and gives feedback on your attempts. The guide images, feedback and scores are generated by AI. They can be wrong, odd or inconsistent. A score is a nudge to keep practising, not a judgement of your talent or a professional assessment.

Guide images made for your lessons are for your own learning and practice.

Your drawings and photos

You keep ownership of your photos and drawings. Only use photos you have the right to use, and don’t submit anything that shows other people’s private information or that is illegal.

You give us permission to process what you submit: to store it temporarily, send it to our AI providers and return the result. That is the only purpose of that permission.

If you share a drawing to Community, you also give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, resize and display it in the app and on sketchwise.app, including on its share page and in the gallery. The licence ends when you delete the drawing or it expires after 90 days. You confirm that you made the drawing yourself and are entitled to share it.

Community rules

Community is a shared wall of finished drawings. These rules apply to every drawing, caption and public name, and they keep it welcoming for everyone, including younger artists.

  • Post only drawings you made yourself. No work by other artists, no images made by someone else, and no photographs or screenshots passed off as drawings.
  • Be kind. No hate, bullying or harassment, in drawings, captions or names. Don’t target people or groups for who they are.
  • Nothing violent, sexual or unsafe for young artists. No nudity or sexual content, graphic violence or gore, and nothing that promotes self-harm, drugs or dangerous acts.
  • No personal details, ads or spam. Keep names, contact details and locations, yours included, out of captions and names. Captions can’t contain links, and promotions and repeated posts are not allowed.

Choose a public name that isn’t someone else’s, doesn’t pretend to be another person and isn’t offensive. We may ask you to choose another name, or remove it.

You can share up to 5 drawings in any 24 hours, and each one disappears on its own after 90 days.

Reports, blocking and enforcement

See something that breaks the rules? Use the report option on the drawing in the app, or write to us. You can also block people so their drawings stop appearing for you.

An automated AI model checks every shared drawing before it reaches the public wall, and holds anything it is unsure about for review. When 3 different people report a drawing, it comes off the wall until we have looked at it. We may remove any drawing or name that breaks these rules, with or without warning, and we may end someone’s access to Community if they break the rules repeatedly or seriously. We can’t promise to catch everything, which is why reports matter.

If you think we got it wrong, tell us and we will take another look.

Subscriptions and purchases

Some features need a Sketchwise subscription. The price, length and any trial or introductory offer are shown on the purchase screen before you pay. Free use has limits that may change.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically for the same length and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel it.

Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.

Fair use of the app

Please don’t scrape or send automated requests to Sketchwise, reverse engineer it, get around its limits, paywall or app checks, probe our systems, or use it to break the law or anyone’s rights.

The app, its design, name, logo, lesson system and code belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for yourself.

Apple and Google

If you use Sketchwise on an iPhone or iPad, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement applies alongside these terms.

Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or for supporting it. Questions, complaints and claims about Sketchwise come to us.

No guarantees, limited liability

Sketchwise is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don’t promise that it will always work without interruption or error, or that lessons and scores will be accurate or right for you. We aren’t responsible for what other people post, though we work to keep Community appropriate.

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses or for lost data or content, and our total liability for anything arising from the app is limited to what you paid for Sketchwise in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or rights you have as a consumer.

Ending things

You can stop using Sketchwise at any time by deleting the app and cancelling any subscription in the store. We may suspend or end your access to the app or to Community if you break these terms or misuse the service, or if we have to stop offering it. Sections that by their nature should continue to apply after that, such as ownership and the limits on liability, do.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features. We will change the date at the top and, for material changes, tell you in the app or on this page. If you keep using Sketchwise after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you don’t agree, stop using it.
